Dr. Satish has very vast experience and expertise in different fields of forestry and wildlife management including forest ecology, wildlife management, forest restoration and management, development of arboretums, development and management of zoos and biological parks, development of conservation areas and herbal gardens, social forestry, wetlands management, and assessment studies. He is one of the leading field taxonomists in India in both plant and animal science and is credited for publishing 690 research papers & articles and about 17 books in Hindi and English languages till date, and also for reporting more than three dozen plants and animal species including endemic species in Rajasthan state, developing half dozen new techniques of forestry, creation of new discipline of ornithobotany (i.e. relationship of birds and plants), and developing nursery techniques and planting techniques for rare plant species. He is resource person and trainer to many central and state government agencies in forestry, wildlife crime prevention, wildlife management, research & documentation, and is consultant to more than 20 government and private organizations. He is member in various experts’ committees of government and private bodies, research supervisor of many students pursuing doctoral and master degrees, and reviewer of many international and national level research journals. He is recipient of about 23 national and state level awards.
Dr. Satish is a passionate contributor in science popularization and is associated as resource person as well as evaluator in the state and national events of children science congress, for Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for more than 22 years.
